East Torrens Primary School has a secure Nature Garden with a large sandpit and water play area. The Nature Garden is also home to the schools chickens and a bike track. Students explore and use their imagination to create forts, built sand castles, play games, ride bikes or just relax and enjoy the environment around them.
Our Nature Garden is home to a herb garden and some vegetables where students are responsible for weeding and taking care of the herbs and plants.
Students enjoy feeding and interacting with the chickens that live in a chicken coop and look forward to counting how many fresh eggs will be layed each day.
The staff at East Torrens utilise this great area by supporting the learning and wellbeing of students. Teachers incorporate maths, english and other learning areas in the Nature Garden where by students grow not only academically but also socially and emotionally.
