History

East Torrens Primary School is located in the eastern area of Adelaide. The school was established on the former Newton Primary site in 2001, following the amalgamation of Hectorville and Newton Primary Schools. We are well resourced with large classrooms, gymnasium and activity room as well as extensive grounds and a newly built Resource Centre and administration areas.

East Torrens has two special education classes that provide specialised teaching and learning for 20 students with disabilities. We also offer an Intensive English Language Program (IELP) to teach an intensive English curriculum to students newly arrived in Australia.

East Torrens celebrates the cultural and linguistic diversity within the school community with more than 52 cultures represented. There are approximately 300 students, so a school of this size means that everyone can get to know each other. We pride ourselves on being a very welcoming, caring and community minded school, with a strong focus on quality teaching and high learning outcomes, for each individual child and young person.
